# Can't edit a sent quote

> Why quote editing is locked after sending and what to do instead.

## Sent quotes can be edited

If a quote has been sent but the client hasn't signed yet, you can still edit it. Open the quote and make your changes — the update is applied silently without sending a new email. Tap **Resend** if you want your client to receive a notification that the quote has been updated.

This is the intended flow for scope or pricing changes before signature.

## Accepted quotes cannot be edited — by anyone

Once a client signs, the quote is permanently frozen. This is the core protection Clarely provides. The signed version is the legal record — changing it after signing would undermine the entire purpose of the signature.

If you need to do work beyond what was signed:

* **Additional scope** — use a [change order](/quotes/change-orders) to add and bill for the extra work without touching the original signed quote. Your client signs the change order separately, and it links back to the original.
* **Lower amount than signed** — adjust the invoice manually before sending it, or issue a credit through your payment app.

## What to do if you made an error after the client signed

If you notice a mistake after acceptance, contact [support@clarely.co](mailto:support@clarely.co) with the quote number and a description of the situation. What's appropriate depends on the specific case.

## Draft quotes

If a quote is in **Draft** status, editing is completely unrestricted. You can change any field before sending.
