# Generate an invoice

> Create an invoice from a completed job or accepted quote.

Invoices in Clarely flow directly from the work you've recorded — the line items and pricing from the signed quote carry through automatically.

## From a completed job (field service flow)

<Steps>
  <Step title="Complete the job">
    Open the job and tap **Mark Complete**. After the 8-second undo window closes, the job is done.
  </Step>

  <Step title="A draft invoice is created automatically">
    The moment a completed job's undo window closes, Clarely creates a draft invoice for it — this happens every time, regardless of any setting. Whether that draft also gets **sent** to your client automatically is a separate decision, controlled by **Auto-send invoice on job completion** in **Settings → Workflow**, under "After the job":

    * **Auto-send invoice on job completion** — when on, the draft is emailed to your client right away, no action needed from you. When off, the draft sits in your Invoices list marked Draft, waiting for you to review and send it.
    * **Hold if team notes are present** — only appears once auto-send is on. When enabled, if the team member left field notes on the job, Clarely holds the send and gives you a review prompt instead — the safety valve for when the crew flags something before the invoice goes out. See [Field notes](/jobs/field-notes) for how this works.

    See [Automatic invoicing](/invoices/auto-invoice) for the full picture on both settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and send">
    Open the draft invoice. Confirm the line items and total. Tap **Send Invoice** when ready.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## From an accepted quote (professional services flow)

If you chose "Send invoice immediately" as the acceptance flow, Clarely handles this automatically. When your client signs the quote, an invoice is generated and emailed to them instantly. You don't need to take any action.

The invoice appears in your **Invoices** list in **Sent** status.

## Create a manual invoice

You can create an invoice at any time without a quote.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Invoices">
    Tap **Invoices**, then tap **New Invoice**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a client">
    Choose from your client list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add line items">
    Add services or items with descriptions, quantities, and prices.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set net terms">
    Choose how many days until payment is due (net terms). The default comes from your invoicing settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save or send">
    Tap **Save as Draft** or **Send Invoice** to send immediately.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What carries over from a signed quote

When an invoice is generated from a job linked to an accepted quote, the following come through automatically:

* All line items with descriptions, quantities, and pricing
* Per-item taxable flags — line items marked taxable on the quote carry through to the invoice and are taxed at your account's rate
* Client name and email
* Tax total (calculated from taxable line items only)

You can edit a draft invoice before sending. Once sent, the invoice can still be edited, but the scope of the work should reflect what was in the signed quote.

## Service catalog in manual invoices

When creating a manual invoice, tap the **(+)** button in the service name field to pull from your saved service catalog. See [Service catalog](/quotes/service-catalog) for details. Available on Professional and above.
