# Job status

> Understand and update job statuses.

Every job in Clarely has a status that reflects where it is in the workflow. Keeping statuses current gives you and your team an accurate picture of what's happening.

## Status definitions

| Status | Meaning |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------- |
| Unscheduled | Job created but no date or time set yet |
| Scheduled | Date and time set, work hasn't started |
| In Progress | Work is actively underway |
| Completed | Work is done |
| Cancelled | Job will not be completed |

## Updating a status

Open any job and tap the status button to move it forward. The sequence is:

**Unscheduled → Scheduled → In Progress → Completed**

You can also move backward (reopen a job) or cancel from any non-completed state.

## Completing a job

When you mark a job **Completed**, an 8-second undo window appears. If you complete a job by mistake, tap **Undo** within that window to revert it.

After the undo window closes, completion is final. A draft invoice is always created automatically when a job linked to an accepted quote is completed. Whether that draft is sent to your client automatically depends on your auto-send settings in **Settings → Workflow** — see [Automatic invoicing](/invoices/auto-invoice) for the full picture.

## Cancelled jobs

Cancelling a job removes it from your active schedule. The originating quote remains in your system for reference. Cancelled jobs can be reopened if needed.

## Recurring jobs

For recurring job series, cancelling one occurrence doesn't affect the rest of the series. To cancel all future occurrences, see [Recurring jobs](/jobs/recurring-jobs).
