Line items are the individual services or products on a quote. Each line item defines exactly what’s included in the scope your client signs.

Adding a line item

Each line item has three fields:
  • Description — what the service or item is. Be specific. Vague descriptions lead to scope disputes.
  • Quantity — how many units.
  • Unit price — price per unit. The line total calculates automatically.

Editing and removing line items

Tap any line item to edit it. Swipe left or tap the delete icon to remove it. You can add as many line items as needed.

Why line item detail matters

When your client signs, they’re signing every line item on the quote. Each item is part of the locked scope. If it’s not on the quote, it’s not covered. If your client asks for something extra after signing, that requires a new quote.
Be as specific as possible in your descriptions. “Clean 3-bedroom home — all rooms, bathrooms, kitchen” is better than “cleaning.” It protects you and sets clear expectations for your client.

Totals and tax

Clarely calculates the quote total from your line items automatically. Per-item taxable flag: Each line item has a taxable toggle. When tax is enabled on the quote, only line items marked as taxable contribute to the tax calculation. Non-taxable items are excluded regardless of the quote-level tax rate. This lets you mix taxable and non-taxable services on a single quote. Set your default tax rate in Settings → Quoting. You can override the rate per quote.

Service catalog

Instead of typing services from scratch, tap the (+) button in the service name field to pull from your saved service catalog. Name, description, and price pre-fill automatically. See Service catalog.
